From Wiki: Trakai Island Castle (Lithuanian: Trakų salos pilis; Polish: Zamek w Trokach) is an island castle located in Trakai, Lithuania, on an island in Lake Galvė. The construction of the stone castle was begun in the 14th century by Kęstutis, and around 1409 major works were completed by his son Vytautas the Great, who died in this castle in 1430. Trakai was one of the main centers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the castle held great strategic importance. The castle was rebuilt in the 1950s–1960s by Lithuanian initiative, although it had received resistance from Soviet authorities. The Trakai History Museum was established after the reconstruction.
One closer inspection the top half of the construction looks to be faced in red(ish) brick and the roofs have red(ish) tiles - all pretty normal for northern Europe. As Marianne says: Absolutely beautiful - but then I *do* have a particular soft spot for castles of all types and locations.

Why are the tops painted orange?
They probably enhanced the colours with Photoshop. Google Trakai Island Castle.
But it looks absolutely beautiful.

Gorgeous!
I would hide there and never leave. Blow up the bridge, build up sea walls so no one can dock. Imagine the library...
One reason why I think Europe will survive the zombie (indeed ANY) apocalypse - CASTLES and plenty of armour, swords & stuff in museums.
We all just have to be at the right place at the right time. ;)
Indeed. Keep an eye on the News and book an Airbnb in a local Castle at the last moment!! [grin]
