It does make me wonder how the parents of the first blue-eyed baby reacted when s/he was born... Joy, surprise, confusion, fear, horror? Plus, how was that child treated? As a gift from the Gods or something worse? Obviously blue-eyes prospered, but did they do so from the very beginning or were the first blue-eyed babes treated badly? I guess we'll never know, but I do like thinking about stuff like that.

Interesting. I wonder how much competition green eyes give blue eyes as far as raw numbers. I have green eyes myself and they're the first thing I notice about a woman if she has them. Actually, I'm pretty sure all the women I've ever "liked" have had green eyes...XD

As far as I know, eye colour doesn't actually provide any evolutionary advantage - certain eye colours don't give you better vision. They are selected for by potential sex partners so their spread is dependent on how 'attractive' they are. Presumably when blue eyes (and other colours) first appear they were selected for because they were 'different'....? Eye colour isn't a show stopper for me (why would it be) but I do find some more attractive then others (is that genetically determined or am I just attracted by 'different'..?). Green is definitely on my list and I do like the oddity of different colour eyes!!

And now we know that almost all babies are born with blue eyes and they can change over time. Eleanor had beauitful blue-ish eyes but now they are a gorgeous brown like mine. I don't really have an eye-color preference, but I am really attracted to a dark hair/light eyes combo. Harry Styles is a prime example of this :D

I have blue, as does my sister. My brother's eyes are hazel. Mum's eyes were blue too. Not 100% sure about Dads..... [muses]

My father was a white/blonde haired, bright blue eyed Swede, and my mom was honey blonde green eyed Dutch mongrel (Dutch, English, German). My brother is a white/blonde with bright blue eyes, and I was a honey blonde that darkened with age, and have dark blue eyes. Recessive genes won out there.
