Yep. And since they were not smart enough to understand that global warming is causing extremes in both hot AND cold, we had to call it climate change instead. I can't even with the amount of stupidity in government. Or worse, they DO get it, but they love the money more, so they don't care that our planet is fucked because by the time things get uninhabitable, they'll be dead. It's probably the second option.
I think the 'hope' is either technology will save us just in time so they don't need to DO anything, or that they think the 'Rapture' is coming anyway, so why bother *fixing* anything....
My bet is that the world will finally wake up to what's going on and decide to DO something about it on a global level - about two years *after* we've reached the point of no return.....
We are alredy getting dangerously close to the point of no return and some scientists think we have already passed it. Either way, I don't think the technology would be developed and available for mass production in time to save us.
