There's a funny screenshot of someone reporting a household having a party during COVID time to the police: when the police respond to the post, they're given the address of the Anne Frank hideout.
Anyway, these days it's the kaffiyah-wearing fauxleft who are harrassing Jews, especially on college campuses. Lot of Israeli flags at that Trump rally in NYC. Really disappointed Kamala didn't do the ROgan interview....I've never listened to a full episode of him before, but his discussions with Trump and Vance were both interesting, even if during the Trump one they were distracted a full half-hour by talking about some fighting league. UFC, I think.
Oh, Israel *deserves* a LOT of the flak its been getting. I struggle to understand those who support the obvious genocide that's going on in Gaza. I even found myself agreeing with Candice Owens - which was a **very** strange feeling!
I'm not a fan of Rogan for a lot of reasons. He's FAR too fascinated with 'ancient aliens' and such nonsense! I'm VERY impressed that you managed to listen to Trump for more than a few minutes. Usually I loose whatever interest I had going in (close to zero) as soon as he stumbles over his sentences - probably the 1st or 2nd - changes thread half way through a sentence, loses track of his thoughts or just blatantly lies...
I'm not a big fan of Israel (it's a 'problematic' ally of DC, to say the least) but these students aren't attacking it: they're attacking Jews with no connection to that state whatsoever. It would be like harrassing Iranian-Americans because we didn't care for what the ayatollah was doing, or Brits attacking Pakistanis in the UK because of some quarrel about Kashmir. Of course, that seems to be a human predisposition, as we saw in the insane cancelling of Russian literature, artists, etc in 2022 because of Putin's war.
Candace has....gotten weird lately. When she left the Daily Wire, I thought she was being unfairly attacked for criticizing Israel (Shapiro being a "my country right or wrong" zionist), but then she began dipping into holocaust denialism and the like. I think she's made a career out of being "edgy", but wound up railroading herself into some place that's dodgy indeed. Of course, a white nationalist (Richard Spencer) just endorsed Kamala because she's LESS friendly to Israel, so we are living in a very strange timeline.
Three hours with Trump was....interesting. I did it in one-hour segments, playing Stardew Valley. I was honestly surprised: at one point he was talking about the way American nuclear facilities are constructed compared to French construction, and how the French approach was much better, and was honestly amazed that he knows something -- or at least can talk like he knows something -- about concrete grades and the like. Tomorrow should be interesting. I'll be doing vote-reporting at the courthouse to boot!
Oh, I can **definitely** agree that we live in a VERY strange timeline! I'm intrigued as to when it all went wrong... Or has it always been this fucked up & I failed to notice?
If I'm feeling particularly 'brave' I might get around to reading up on the Israel/Palestine region next year. I'm certainly planning on tackling some of my Ukraine books that have been stacking up. I HAD hoped to read them *after* the war was over, but its lasting a LOT longer than most people - and most especially Putin I'm guessing - thought it would!
Enjoy your Election Day! My brother did a bit of that years ago.

It's usually entertaining! Always interesting to see the gears of democracy at work -- the ballot boxes being brought in, that sort of thing.
