Me 262 - fitted with an anti-tank cannon. I think they only made a handful of this variant. Pretty cool though!
Fighting the *massive* disparity in armour on the Eastern Front the German's came up with some VERY interesting anti-tank options. A lot of them were very effective too.
The Me262 was a great aircraft. It had some problems - being essentially the first jet fighter *thrown* into combat but it was a pretty amazing bit of kit for the period. Pretty too!
Part of the problem was that they had a LOT of great ideas... but didn't have the time or resources to do everything. So they decided on one thing, then changed their mind, then another great idea came up or a disaster happened and they all ran around like headless chickens. Lack of planning, lack of foresight and lack of overall control. They made countless mistakes, both big and small, and their (admitedly many) technical innovations just couldn't save them from deeply findamental problems, many of which they had *started* the war with and failed to address - mostly because they thought the war could be won quickly. Once they were in a situation *knowing* they were in for a LONG war it was already too late to course correct and they just couldn't win at that point unless the Allies did something - or actually a bunch of somethings - really stupid.

Ooh, one of Germany's protojets. I've heard they were misused as light bombers but didn't figure for anything as odd as a.....tank gun?

Interesting! Good thing they were slow being put into mass production.
