Makes me think of that Hemingway novel where the soldier and his girlfriend get trapped in an interminable conversation about The Winter Sport, somewhere in the mountains between France & Switzerland I think..
I read 'To Have and Have Not' back in 2018 because I liked the movie so much. Turned out the movie was much better. I might dip into him again at some point.

OK..... Doesn't ring any bells.... [grin] But then I haven't read much Hemmingway yet...
I think it's The Sun Also Rises. Try as I might, I really can't get into him as an author.
