*snort* and grapefruit is SO gross anyway. Ugh.

I’ve discovered pomelos (similar to grapefruit, not as sour). They are delicious! Don’t eat them if you’re on statins.

Yeah, never really 'got' grapefruit. I do like both apple & orange juice though....

Never heard of pomelos... But it IS the sourness that puts me off grapefruit.

Grapefuit is one thing I am specifically not allowed to eat, post-transplant. Evidently a compound in grapefruit and satsuma oranges interacts badly with tacrolimus, my key anti-rejection med.

Some fruits are *weird* like that! How long do you need to be on those meds? I presume that your body doesn't simply 'get used' to the new kidney eventually?

I'm on them forever. The amount of pills I'm prescribed has gone down in the 3.5 years since the operation, but a certain level is required in perpetuity. I went from eight tacrolimuses a day to two, but there's a constellation of others (Cellcept and prednisone are the other two big ones). These days I don't go anywhere with a small backpack that has them all, since I have to take them in phases 11 hours apart.

Jeeze.... That can't be cheap!

Yeah, tacrolimus and cellcept are the reason I haven't gone out west since 2018. My car will be paid off in March, though, so I'm hoping to see the mountains again..
