It's more entertaining this way. Before, when a government collapsed, all we could do is stare at the TV and go "Huh, wonder if we had something to do with that? Suppose we'll find out in five or ten years when someone writes a book". Now DC kidnaps dictators overnight and then straight-up seizes ships without all the pretense. If we weren't living through it, it'd be grand entertainment...
Speaking of, someone did a mashup of World War 1 and....um, GTA San Andreas.
Well, it might be 'grand entertainment' as long as you're not on the receiving end of a cruise missile....
