I found a similar one a while back with the angry Republican demanding the country reclaim itself for Americans; and the Native American standing next to him saying "I'll help you pack."

We'll just revert backwards to some mythical point where everything was in MY favor and declare THAT to be the REAL America. It would be laughable if we weren't at risk for lynchings from the mentality.

I posted that here on 25th May - so you might have seen it here.... possibly....

It certainly seems to be going that way. Do you think the US will be Republican again next time? Of course you could say you're Republican *now*.....

I'm worried about the Evangelicals taking over. They're scary and reproducing fast. I'm also worried about the power of the Mormon Church and their financial influence in politics.

Speaking of Mormons, did you hear that Ron Howard is going to bring Jon Krakaeur's Under the Banner of Heaven book to screen? It's a great book by the author of Into the Wild about the history of the Mormon Church. And, believe me, it is not complimentary. As ridiculous as religion is sometimes, Mormonism brings it into sharp focus because of its relative youth and popularity. You've basically seen a religion manufactured by a single person, based on laughable premises, and grown to proportions that runs a whole state (Utah) and have a huge influence over several other western states (Arizona, Colorado, Nevada). But as ridiculous as Mormonism seems, it is no crazier than "normal" Christianity. And for other Christians to criticize it is the veritable "the pot calling the kettle black".

How did such a crazy bunch of people get so much apparent power? It's a mystery to me....
