@ Sarah: Yeah, it'd be pretty crap as a human octopus. You could HOLD eight books at once but you could only read one (or two) of them at the same time. Plus those suckers probably wouldn't do the pages much good. You'd have to go waterproof kindle.... SO many problems being an octopus. Too much effort I think!
