When I visited Natchez, MS a few years ago, I drove across the river into Vidalia, Louisiana (to say I'd been across the MS by myself, and had technically visited Louisiana that weekend), I was immediately greeted with a sign advertising drive-through cocktails. I went inside to ask about the story and wound up getting a half hour of them. Lots of local color..

Drive through DRINKING... [lol] I think that's the *definition* of accidents waiting to happen! But here nearly every pub has a car park so.... I presume that each car has a alcohol free designated driver?

Well, the drinks were covered and I think the official expectation was that people would wait until they were someplace safe. XD I believe it's still legal to drive with an open container in Mississippi provided you are not actually over the .08 limit.

Could also be a local law enforcement revenue racket -- shadow traffic around those areas, fine people for drinking while driving.

I think that there's a very good case to be made for the blood alcohol limit to be ZERO. It'd certainly cut out a lot of misunderstanding and mistakes.
